I have no power in my unit but the rest of the complex has power

If you have no power but the rest of the complex has power and you have credit on your token meter, the power to your unit may have tripped.

  1. Turn off all the switches on your Distribution Board (DB) (push them down).

  2. Switch the mains switch on first. On some DB, you need to push the switch down before you can put it up again.

  3. Turn on 1 switch at a time allowing a few seconds before putting on the next switch.

    1. If the mains switch trips after you turn a breaker on, there may be a fault on that line or a faulty appliance plugged into that line.

    2. Unplug appliances plugged into the line to determine the faulty appliance.

    3. An electrician may be required to check and repair the wiring of the line or the appliance. This will be from the unit owner's cost.

  4. Once all the switches are on, check that your power has been restored.

  5. If the power is not on, the DB outside your unit may have tripped. Asked the Security Team / Estate Manager for assistance accessing this DB and switching it back on.

If both the external and the internal DB have not tripped and the rest of the complex has power, an electrician may be required to assist.
