What to do when your geyser bursts

What to do when your geyser bursts

Sectional Title Schemes have an insurance policy covering the common property and water heating systems (geyser/heat pump/boiler).

Once the repairs/replacement has been completed, a claim can be submitted to the scheme's insurance company.

To prevent additional damage to your unit, turn off the water to your unit and turn off the electricity to your geyser at your DB Board.

Contact the Managing Agent or the Scheme's Insurance Company to find out what the claim process is.
  1. Some Insurance Policies require that you call the Insurance Company's call centre.
  2. Other Polices require that you contact the Managing Agent to log the claim.
Review the claim information and claim limits

Please note that any costs not covered by the insurer will be for the registered owner's account, this may include call-out fees and compliance certificates.

Contact a certified service provider/contractor of your choice for assistance if the Scheme's Insurance Policy doens not have a dedicated Call Centre. If there is a Call Centre, the Call Centre will dispatch a plumber to assist.

* For a burst geyser, ensure the contractor provides you with a certificate of compliance for the geyser replacement.

Complete the Insurance Claim for the incident within 30 days of the incident and submit the required documents to process the claim.
